Kovanly

Manage your servers from a single panel.

Kovanly is an infrastructure management platform that brings your virtual machines and containers together with networking, security, backup and VPN in one panel. It installs on your own hardware and needs no subscription.

In short

Kovanly is an infrastructure management panel that turns your own hardware into a cloud platform. Virtual machines, containers, networking, firewall, VPN and backup come together in one interface. Positioned as a Proxmox and VMware alternative, it starts with a free single-node edition and scales to multi-node clustering.

// HOW IT WORKS

Your own cloud in three steps.

Every one of these steps runs on the same backbone: the niji core pipeline →

01

Install

One command installs it on your server and pulls in everything it needs. In a few minutes your hardware becomes a cloud platform.

Every one of these steps runs on the same backbone: the niji core pipeline →

02

Configure

Set the administrator password and define your network from the web panel. If you want, cluster several servers with one click.

03

Operate

Create virtual machines and containers, back them up and scale them. Sell resources to your customers — all from one screen.

// CAPABILITIES

One platform, all of the infrastructure.

Virtual machines

Create, clone and move fully featured virtual machines in seconds. Console access straight from the browser, snapshots and automated provisioning.

Containers

Run system and application containers in the same panel. High density, with fine-grained resource control and autoscaling on demand.

Security

Smart firewall, brute-force protection, WireGuard VPN and port management — all out of the box. Every action is written to the audit log.

Backup

Scheduled snapshots and remote (S3/SFTP) backup. Restore with one click; your data survives even a disaster.

High availability

Cluster several servers with one click. Live migration between servers and distributed management keep the service running.

Multi-tenant

Per-customer isolation, resource quotas, role-based access and two-factor authentication. Ready for hosting providers.

// YOU STAY IN CONTROL

The infrastructure stays on your hardware.

Kovanly installs on your own server, and the panel and its management functions are local. Your servers keep running even if the internet connection drops. That is where it parts ways with hosted panels, both for data residency and for operational independence.

// FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about Kovanly

Which servers does Kovanly run on?

It runs on any physical or dedicated server with Ubuntu 24.04 or Debian 12 and hardware virtualisation (VT-x/AMD-V) enabled. Installation is a single command and the required dependencies are pulled in automatically — there is no separate preparation step.

Can we migrate from Proxmox or VMware?

Yes. You can import your existing virtual disks and carry on managing them in the Kovanly panel. What you gain in the move is that capabilities such as container management and VPN arrive out of the box, without installing separate tools.

How does licensing work?

The Community edition is free forever for a single node. For multi-node clustering, advanced security and multi-tenant management there are Business and Datacenter licences, priced as a monthly subscription per node (per physical server). You pay only for the servers you add, and annual payment carries a discount.

Is it suitable for running a hosting business?

Yes — that is exactly what it was designed for. With multi-tenant isolation, per-customer resource quotas and role-based access you can run your own VPS or container hosting business. Because every action is written to the audit log, per-customer accountability stays traceable.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. The panel and all of its management functions are local; if the internet connection drops, your servers and the virtual machines on them keep running. That is where it parts ways with hosted panels — the management plane stays inside your own network.

Where does our data live?

Because Kovanly installs on your own hardware, the virtual machines, containers and backups stay wherever you decide. For remote backup you define an S3 or SFTP target, and you also decide which country that target sits in. For organisations with data residency requirements, that is the distinguishing point.

Why does the difference between virtualisation and containers matter here?

Containers share the operating system kernel; virtual machines run their own. When different operating systems are needed, when isolation has to sit at the kernel level, or when a customer is to be given full control as if on their own server, containers are not enough. That is why Kovanly sits on the virtual machine side.

Where do backups go?

Alongside scheduled snapshots, an S3 or SFTP target is defined for remote backup. You decide which country that target sits in — for organisations with data residency requirements, that is the distinguishing point.

How far does it scale?

From a single node to datacenter scale. Multi-node clustering is a single click, and live migration between servers keeps the service up during maintenance.
